So i OCd my system last year, and had it runnin stable for 1 week. I didn't really need it OC'd, so i just sorta experimented w/ it for a week then ran it back at stock. This was almost exactly a year ago... AND today i tried to OC it again, usin the same specs, and it no longer works..it ends up at a blue screen after the windows loading screen ends ....does this make sense

my system, during OC, and now (NO hardware changesNO BIOS update, only a few reformats)
amd 64 3000+ venice
abit an8 sli
2*512 OCZ value ddr400
seasonic s-12 430
xp-120 HS---> stock temps are similiar to stock temps before and after orig OC 1 year ago

OC Specs
HTT 315, Freq 3x, multp 8x, DDR 266 2-3-2-6
I entered in all that info, as well as setting the vcore to 1.5 and 2.9Vdimm

Does this make sense, these specs no longer working?? (I originally OCd usin the guide posted here...do i need to do it all over again, or is something wrong??)
Is it a matter of forgetting to make some basic BIOS change?? i know i changed all the specs i listed under "OC Specs"....

edit: clarification & HS & update

Did you updated your BIOS since? Some BIOS releases don't overclock as well as others.

Check for a dust-clogged heatsink on the CPU? Loose retaining clip on the HSF?

Failing that, and if it isn't a BIOS issue... maybe you've got something on your mobo overheating that wasn't before.

No BIOS update.

I clear out some of the dust out of my case every few months..and my temps running at stock are what my stock temps have Always been, before and after i originally OCd my system last year.

Well, 315 Mhz HTT with a 5x HT multiplier equals no boot, every time, with every processor AMD has ever made. You might want to go over the guide again: link.

I think the overclocking potential of components decreases with time. I have also noticed the same thing. For example, my Athlon XP system used to run quite happily at 2400Mhz when I first put the system together, now running at 2.2GHz, I occasionally get errors... I've also just put in a new more powerful PSU to keep things running smooth, but no dice...

I agree. I have had the same problem, had to reduce my OC over time. Probably why the cpu companies put them where they are in the first place.
