Just bought the last of the pieces for my new computer. set me back about a bit, but hey, i got what i wanted. just thought i'd share what i got:

Antec SX-1040
Athlon xp 1700+
Soyo k7v Dragon plus
aiw radeon 8500dv
Logitech z560s
logitech cordless freedom optical keyboard & mouse
panasonic floppy drive
acer 56K fax/data modem
adsl modem
Alpha pal8045 w/sunon 43cpm 80mm
lite-on 16x48x dvd-rom
Sound Blaster Audigy oem (this is a carry over. i know the onboard audio for the soyo is stellar).
2 x crucial 256MB PC2100
Mitsumi 4804TE
2 x Maxtor 60GB hdd
21" Trinitron Monitor
and the carry over printer, scanner, etc.

that should keep me going for a while.
now i just hope that everything works when it arrives...

Nice, that system should last you a good long 6 months before you have to upgrade again. :)

Ouch. I hope that's a "carry over" too. 4x is painfully slow.

yeah, it's a carry over. i didn't see the need to get a faster one. i love my mitsumi.
i'd rather save the money and get a dvd burner eventually.

anything i should know before i assemble it? I know i need to update the bios for the soyo. should i get the latest drivers for it too? anything else i should prepare for?

<< 4x is painfully slow. >>

Not really, 20 minutes for a cd? Big deal.

<< anything i should know before i assemble it? >>

Um, don't use a large hammer? Oh, and don't wear wool socks on a carpet! Yeah.

<< I know i need to update the bios for the soyo. should i get the latest drivers for it too? >>

Yes. Get the latest VIA and C-Media drivers for sure.

<< anything else i should prepare for? >>

If you're going to plug in the riser card, make abolutely sure you've got it plugged in right. Plugging it in backwards will cause it to not even show up in windows. Oh, and be ready to use one of the greatest cases in existance :D. Only gripe I have with it is the lack of a motherboard tray :(.

Good luck, and nice system .
