help me pick a new/better one from Newegg ... I don't think I want to spend more than $40 ... what's the best bang for the buck?

Just needs to support at least:
1GHz T-bird
2 CDROMS (CDRW)
2 7200RPM HDDs
GeForce3 Ti200

I put in an old 250Watt for now and it's actually holding up.

So should I get a new one or should I save my money until I really need more power ?

If the 250W is holding up then I say keep it as long as it's a quality brand, but if that doesn't sit well with you then take a look at Fortron units. They're pretty inexpensive and are quite reliable from what I've heard.

Click on Antec, the second one down. I checked Enermax, but even their 300w is higher, I would have expected lower from them.

i always recommend antec by default, so i'll recommend antec. i <3 antec power supplies, not to say they're the only company making quality.

Are the 300Watts good enough for when I pick up a 2.4GHz CPU and a more up-to-date video card ?

I use a 250 wt Sparkle on 1 of my Rigs (XP2100 OC'd), it has more stuffs then yours and is stable as well, so if it's a quality PSU and works then stick with it. If you were to get a new PSU don't skimp and get @ least a 350 or 400wt quality PSU for the future.

Well I just ordered the Antec 300W for $39 shipped - thx. I was considering a 350W or even 400W for the future, but then figured if I was going to upgrade, I'd build a new machine altogether and just give this one to my bro (he's running a K6/2-350MHz believe it or not).

Thanx for the recommendations though... appreciate it.
