My poor 9700 pro

Deeko

Lifer
She's been serving me dutifully for nearly four years now, but now I'm getting artifacts in games that increase as time goes on, akin to overclocking. The fan is probably dying, and I don't feel like replacing a fan on a four year old card.

What should I get to replace it with?

All are AGP cards ....play games great + go for a nice price.

A 6800GS sounds nice, but what about the 7800GS? And the 7600GS should be out soon for a mid-range AGP.

7800GS>X850XT=6800GS>6600GT

downclock the thing back to origional speeds then. Or replace it with this:

All in wonder X800XT. Great card and has multimedia features and most importantly beats the 7800GS in FEAR. It's also still an ATI card and it gives you a neat feature called temporal anti-aliansing where it takes your antialiasing level and makes it look like it's double that, like 2x looks like 4x, 4x looks like 8x, and 6x looks like 12x.

$300 for a X800XT = rip off .. isnt a 7900GT/X1800XL/7800GT that price?

best to buy a cheap AGP card so you dont get ripped later on when you move to PCI-E

You have that 7800GS and X850XT backwards.
