IMO deleting that thread is an insult to everyone that was participating in a productive and worthwhile topic. I have seen moderators edit posts lock threads and even get them moved, but in this case there was virtually no warning before it was just plain gone. Since there was no warning and I didn't recieve any correspondence from a mod am I to assume my posts are not the cause or should I wonder if it was something I wrote? I have no way of knowing, should I walk on eggshells or post like normal?

Personally I still don't really understand what or who casued the thread to be deleted (maybe because I can no longer read it, something I could have done if any or even all the other moderator options had been utilized). Yes, fourm group members and having a mod that is affiliated with a focus group did get brought up, but one of my suggestions involved them so it wasn't a surprise to me that this happened. I and possibily others where addressing these members concerns to keep the thread on track and productive.
Should I now consider the mention of a focus group or its members something taboo that will automatically get a thread deleted?

If I understand Red Dawn correctly no one was behaving inappropriately in this thread, people where just voicing their opinion so it should have only required minimal moderation if any, going to the extreme of deleting the thread was not called for, especially without some kind of warning.

Its a pitty that apoppins thread recieved the harshest moderation when, in the same fourm, a member baited the title of his thread, became argumentitive twards the moderators, and followed that up with childish behavior with virtually no moderation at all, it appears he got away with his digressions completly unscathed and with his thread still intact.

I don't expect what I or anyone else has to say to make a difference, since IMO being directed to post in PFI is no different than saying nothing will change but here is a place to vent your objections.
Well I'm done venting, I might as well move along, theres nothing to see here.

And the fact that it was the person whom the thread was about (keys) that deleted it makes it even more troubling.

i don't believe keys removed apoppin's thread.

You contacted me first in PMs and told me you had been away too long and "the fanATIcs had run wild" in your absence. i even tried to warn you that the "rules of engagement" had changed while you were away but you clearly didn't understand what i was saying to you by your repeated questioning me about my wanting to drop out of "endless debates" and concentrate on the "serious" things in Graphics.
It is my understanding of your actions - as well as your "timing" of both leaving Video nearly 2 years and and now back with what you call your "triumphant return" - and also by what you post and by what you told me semi-privately that leads me to believe it is a game for you.

If i somehow misunderstood *everything*, please clarify.

Well Appopin you stated to me that you stepped down as a mod so that you could stir up trouble. "At least that is my 'take'". Also your threats "to have me removed" were unfortunate.

Yes I did state that Video Card discussions had become boring. However, it had nothing to do with this forum, simply the current state of the industry. Your misrepresentation of my statements is what I have come to expect of you. I have never sought to discredit you, your posts do that well enough.

Shall i forward our PMs along to Derek Wilson the Admin? i think he will understand clearly what i am saying and you too, i think. i posted - in PUBLIC - the SAME things i tried to update you on in PMs - i.e. that i felt i could not post as "freely" as a Moderator as i felt i could as as a "regular member". And that i dropped out of controversial discussions that go round-and-round.
I also explained that what you perceived was a "threat" was in fact a "warning" that the "rules of engagement" had changed in your absence - that the forum was well-moderated and trolling was no longer tolerated as in your past.

as to me saying anything bad about Keys, what about THIS do you not still comprehend in my last PM to you?:

you got it way wrong .. way way wrong ... i have always backed Keys when i was a mod and after i stepped down - we also worked closely together to produce a review for Video forum

BFG never called Keys "anything" as a moderator ... as a private member, he expressed *concerns* how OTHER members might view it.

You have violated every important rule we have at ATF - at the very least "in spirit" .. i am beyond disgusted at your disruptive behavior.
