I purchased a PNY geforce3 ti 200 back in mid January.

Installed it in my rig and all was well for a couple of days. Then the machine locks up with strange tiny rectangles all over the screen. I reboot and before long it does it again.

So I wipe the c drive and reinstall windows..... still does it.

Tried a different motherboard....... still does it.. (with another clean windows install)

Thought maybe it could be my old mx300 sound card...Bought myself a sb audigy.. Still does it .. yet another windows install.

To make a long story short, I think I've tried everything. Latest dx, latest drivers, checked bios settings. All the usual stuff. And reinstalled windows about 5 times, ( not including the sunday afternoon that the kids hosed the machine. :)

At one point I called pny tech support. The guy tells me there is nothing wrong with my card, If something was wrong with it, it wouldn't work at all..ok. I try a few more things. this was two or three weeks ago.

Called them again tonight, to see about taking them up on their lifetime warranty. This guy says its a conflict with my promise ultra 100 ide controller. I told him that I've searched the web several times and found no mention of this. He tells me he will get his supervisor to call me tomorrow...

I doubt they will call. Their phone system is by far the worst I've ever had to deal with. After you get past all the busy signals, you go through the automated tech support, then wait for someone to pick up. Took an hour tonight.

Thanks for letting me vent. If you have a comment or suggestion, I'd love to hear it.

I doubt they will call back. They tell you the problem is everything but their product. Should of bought a visiontek. If you start being an a$$hole and yelling at him and demanding, and threating to call headquarters with his name, you will get somewhere. Good Luck

For those of you wondering how things are going.... and I'm sure there are many :)

I just got off the phone with the Supervisor of the tech support boys. ( I had to call them again, 45 min :( )

He didn't know what a promise harddrive controller was......... He decided to let me rma the old card, but with about a 3 week turnaround.

Can't say I would recommend the pny company to anyone, just not worth the hassle.

Update:

Got my card today, and either they screwed up, or maybe the fact that I was polite paid off, they sent me a ti500!

Either way, I can't complain. So far it's working fine. :)

L vis:

Sorry to hear about the trouble you had, but Good deal you got there! You are pretty lucky. Swapping a Ti200 for a Ti500? Not a bad deal at all! Good to hear everything is settled

Yes and yes. :)

It certainly was a strange problem; I really felt it was a conflict of some sort. But so far, having thrashed the new card pretty well, it's working great. :) Knock on wood ;)

Now I need to find a home for my trusty voodoo 3..... ;)

Thanks for the support guys.
