Looking through some of these recent weight loss, i've been inspired to start my own weight loss journey. I too put in my 6'7 and 222lbs. and found out i need to reduce my calorie intake to 1,400 😕. I just got a gym membership and feel pretty pumped about it, but im not too sure how the calorie reduciton will go over, since i am a teen and fast food = life. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how i could stick to this? I need to do this for myself, im tired of being the tall goofy guy.

6'7" and 222 doesn't sound fat unless you have absolutely no muscle mass.

I wouldn't worry about losing weight and dieting but rather working out and building up some muscle(which you can't do if you starve yourself).

Read "Fastfood Nation" and watch "Supersize Me" that oughta scare you straight. Just remember your goal: Health. You can't possibly reach that goal with McDonalds and Burger King...

And don't assume that because you're a teen fastfood = life. I'm a teen too and I've managed to stay away from fast food for the past few years.

i read the book and watched the video...but i still eat fast food...

it has to be a self motivated goal, not one that you get by feeling guilty because mcdonalds abuses the children or puts mystery xyz into their food...unless works for you

6'7" and 222 lbs. does not sound overweight to me. I have a friend who is 6'6" and 220 lbs. and he looks great. Still a good idea to start healthier eating habits like cutting down on the fast food. That and working out should give you the results you're looking for.

I agree with the others, you are not really overweight. You just need an exercise plan IMHO.

Good luck on your journey.

You're definately not overweight but if you put some on some muscle you would be a monster an no one would f*ck with you. Read some of the articles in my sig about diet.

What you want to do is avoiding eating all the crap that people usually do. At your age and heigh, you can eat as much as you want, as long as the majority of calories are coming from healthy and natural unprocessed foods.

You definately don't need to cut calories if you are looking to pack on muscle and get rid of flab.
no, he needs to exercise AND stay away from junk food.
You have a knack for stating the obvious.

I'm 6'4" and 230...I don't look fat at all....maybe a little beer gut, but I'm going running today so that's ok. 😀

When you're tall, you have to remember that you carry weight differently. Your leg muscles are much longer and if they have any tone, they're going to be heavy.... My legs are the most solid muscles in my body....though I've been lifting weights a lot lately...so my upper body is soon to be where it was when I rowed in college. Just pick a mild workout and stick with it and you'll be fine. 1400 calories per day will help you cut fat quickly, but your metabolism may slow down. If you workout and do some cardio, you won't need to cut your caloric intake....your metabolism will rise to the level since you're muscle will be repairing itself and building stronger.

i try to go to the gym at least 4 times a week, usually weight lifting and a couple of games of basket ball

i do one thing each day like arms one day, legs the next, chest, back, etc. that way you have more than one day to let your muscles relax

and your metabolism is at its highest right after you work out, so make a trip to wendy's then if you must, and you should be able to burn through a good share of it.

I'd not worry as much about the calorie intake as the fast food. Just cut out fast food and soda and you'll see a big difference.

and you just can't not comment. 😛

You need to stay away from junk food no matter what... try eating foods that are low in fat and have fiber, because that'll help fill you up more. Don't drastically cut your calorie intake, because your body won't be used to it. Drop a few hundred calories a day, and try working out.

My advice, though, is to eat healthy food when you're hungry, and exercise often. Don't eat when you're not hungry. If you're full, stop eating.
