My Pictures content isn't there anymore?!?!

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum, but I'm having a major issue. I just did a fresh install of XP after setting up my RAID0, and I copied all the content from a backup drive of My Pictures. After transferring all files (took about an hour, 40gb of pictures), I installed all other drivers for the computer and reset. So after that, I was browsing around and found that all my content in My Pictures were missing. I checked the properties, and the folder is full with 38.6gb/12,550 files, but I can't see any of it! What's going on?

I've checked to make sure none of the files/folders were set to hidden, and also disabled all sharing on the folder just to be safe. After I thought something just went wrong with the initial transfer from the backup disk, I deleted the my pictures folder and re-transferred it all again. After waiting another 45min, the problem still occurs. Is there anything I can do? What would cause this?

I thought it might have been the indexing scheme used in Picasa2, because it happened right after I installed the program, but I uninstalled it immediately after this happened and before the second transfer of the files to the My Pictues folder.

Any Ideas?

Anything revealing in Event Viewer? Try copying just a handful of pictures instead of 40GB, if you're not already testing with smaller numbers. Also fire up a command prompt with Start > Run > cmd, then cd \ to get out to the root of C:, then cd your way to your My Pictures directory and do a dir to see what's in there... anything?

Well here's something wierd... This time, instead of dragging and dropping the 'My Pictures' folder directly into 'My Documents', I just went into my document, created a new folder name My pictures, then opened the folder and dragged and dropped all the folders from the My Pictures backup folder. That seems to have fixed it for now. I'll do a quick restart and install Picasa and see if everything looks normal. What would cause that? Possibly the folder properties of My Pictures on the backup drive not liking the current WindowsXP folder settings? Only thing I can think of, but all the settings on the backup folder look completely normal to me.
