So he was doing a demo to demonstrate thrust force with some ethanol in a large soda bottle attached to a string wired across the room. He was standing directly behind the thrust. Sorry no pics.

I wish my physics instructor was that cool. And she's so scatterbrained that we'd probably end up with similar results :)

Ethanol was placed in the bottle and ignited with a torch by an assistant (not a student). He's alright, he put the flame out by himself quickly, with his hands.

how would you get thrust with water?

Years after I had graduated from college I saw a newspaper article about my college abnormal psychology professor having set his house on fire, and while standing in the middle of his burning house he stuck a gun to head and blew his brains out. Pretty abnormal.

My Organic Chem professor walked into a wall during his lecture. He was not the most plugged in person I have met so far.

You know, that's the exact look I had when ppl asked why use water. Unless they meant pressurized water.

What did you think they meant?

I've seen my ex-chem teacher blow his eyebrows off (one in the beginning of class and one at the end, with the same experiment) by looking down a tube of a potato cannon... blew up in his face. Another time, he got 3rd degree burns on his hand from flaming gases being shot out of a balloon (but this happened the year after, so I didn't get to see accident, but I saw the results) and he kept teaching the class.

first day of chem 1... professor dimmed the lights... had his apparatus set up. bunsen burner, hydrogen, rubber balloon... didnt say a word, just filled the balloon with gas then put it on a tube then lit the sucker up with a bright yellow bang just to startle everyone. turned on the lights and said "welcome to chemistry 125"

later during that lecture he filled a balloon with helium and sucked it all up so he would be talking like mickey mouse.
