My pet peeve of the day

Soulja Boy - Crank That.

No, I don't HATE the song at the moment, I just despise how people play these low quality versions of the MP3. I see all of these movies on youtube that use it and when it does my speakers crackle and my ears cry in pain. It sounds like someone held a mic in front of their stereo system to record the song.

WHY WHY WHY?

I use Rhapsody and it has the whole Soulja Boy album on there and when I play Crank That it comes out crystal clear. Granted it's only 128kbps, but what bugs me is why can't people get a decent quality version of the song. I'm not a total audiophile, but please don't hurt my ears at least when you blast these songs. Like just last week someone blasted it on their car stereo. Reproducing a terrible source file = OUCH.

Here's a low quality rip for you: http://youtube.com/watch?v=v3ARyAb_1Bs

So please, if you want to act like you're on top of the hip hop movement, at least play some decent quality sound file. Thanks.

I can't stand You Tube for the poor audio quality alone.

Oh, and 8/10.

agreed. it's a kickass version and puts the original song to shame.

I can't believe someone else has the same peeve as me with this song. The first time I heard it was across the pond as the people there were having a party. I commented to the wife that as far as I could tell there wasn't one intelligible word in that whole song. The people played it so many times that by the end of the evening I was able to do a phonetic imitation for my son. I wasn't pretty.

Did you even read the OP? He said nothing about not liking the song.

I don't believe I said whether I liked it or not. Only that the words are seemingly unintelligible. When played in a lower fidelity even more so.
