Ok, I know there is not alot ( if any ) benchmarks with the 8800GTS and Athlon 64 single core cpu's. I am going to run a battery of tests on my system at alot of different settings. I am going to run these tests with alot of different settings and resolutions. My monitor's max resolution is 1440X900. If you would like a particular test run, let me know...and Ill be more than happy to run it at the settings you prefer.

If a game you would like benched is not listed, please state your preference as I have alot of other games that I did not list. I will continuously update the post.

Im hoping this will give a good idea to other people with a cpu similar to mine an idea of how a 8800GTS 640mb card will run their games. Most benches online are extreme resolutions, with dual core cpu's.

EDIT : There are going to be some tests that has a 60fps cap. If there is a way around this, let me know and ill readjust. All tests will be run using FRAPS.

1) What test you would like run?
2) What settings do you prefer ?
3) What resolution do you prefer ?

All tests will be run on :

Athlon 64 3500+ @ 2.2
A8R32-MVP Deluxe
1024 mb Corsair
eVGA 8800GTS @ 500/1600
160gig SATA Western Digital 7200
Gateway 19" Widescreen

Anisotropic Filtering = 16x
Antialiasing = 16xQ

I could not find a way to successfully remove the frames cap. So I benched the game anyway.

FPS______Max______Min______Ave
_________60_______23______ 54

Points : I think there is something wrong here. I think I should be getting a lot more frames than that.

Oblivion

Anisotropic Filtering = 16x
Antialiasing = 16xQ

_________60_______13______ 49

INSIDE

FPS______Max______Min______Ave
_________60_______34______ 59

Points : Is it just me, or ( according to FRAPS ) is there a frame cap in this game also ? Never once achieved more than 60.

Half Life 2 Lost Coast

EDIT : This cpu and 1 gig of ram is really killing me here.

Does TRAA work on the 8800 series? I'd like to see some benches with and without it enabled, since most review sites blissfully ignore that feature.

Ok, I have the settings now. Thanks BFG10K.

Tomorrow I am going to start the gaming benchmarks. After those are finished, I will start overclocking the video. Im not sure my cpu will overclock much since im using Value Ram.

The 3DMark06 score is lower than I was expecting. I realize it's highly cpu dependent, but still.

Yes, it does seem low. However, you are overclocked from 1.8 to 2.4 on your cpu. I cannot really overclock my cpu due to memory restrictions.

If you take a look at my score in 3DMark06 from stock to overclock, the cpu score did not even raise one point. I know it really sucks. I need better memory because I know I can overclock this cpu...its being cooled with a Thermalright XP-90.

I can run the video at 10% over. But I highly doubt my cpu will go that far due to memory restrictions.

JPB, I wouldn't sweat getting a new CPU yet. I'm sure while playing games your not going to care if you're getting 5000 or 10000 3dmarks. Get playing a few games and see if you're getting good performance with your 3500+, Otherwise you're going to be wasting a lot of money just to get better benchies. I tell you one thing, My girlfriend doesn't care one bit whether or not I have a measly FX-60 or an e6800.

I'd go for the Conroe simply because it can overclock higher. But thats just me.

Ya know, I was just thinking the same thing. If I upgrade now, once Barcelona and the likes are released, ill have another mid range PC. Hmm....Right now my games run perfectly fine, but a upgrade in monitor is due and maybe power supply also.

Does anyone know when the next line from Intel and Amd are coming ?
