First let me start by saying I bought parts to build a new gaming rig from fellow AT'ers, and I have had nothing but problems since I built my machine.

This is my setup:
420w 3.3v 24A//5v 40A//12v 19A
MSI PT880 LSR (burn mark on the matching insert)
P4 2.8Ghz (burn marks on a pin)
1024Gb Geil DDR400 3200 2.5-3-3-6 (memtest ran fine no problems)
Sapphire 9800 Pro 128mb
Hitachi FLB 160Gb SATA
NEC 2510a
Pioneer SD106
SB LIVE! 4096
Linksys Gigabit
3 internal fans

I have gotten the following error messages so far. Either while watching a movie, or playing UT2004, sometimes just by surfing the web. Sometimes I get an error sometimes, my screen just goes black then reboots. I had my ATi 9800 pro in but I thought that was the problem then I put my wifes GFX MX440 in and it still gives me errors. I ran memtest it didn't find anything wrong with my memory after 57 pass. I'm just really fed up with all this crap.

Thus far I have received some of the following errors.

IRQL_EQUAL_OR_LESS_THAN
BAD_POOL_CALLER
STOP
DEVICE_DRIVER

I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure out this problem.

Based on the 1st dump you gave me, it appears you're getting STOP 7F messages. When I look at the CPU you have:

0: kd> !cpuinfo
CP F/M/S Manufacturer MHz Update Signature Current Signature Features
TargetInfo::ReadMsr is not available in the current debug session
0 15,2,9 GenuineIntel 2812 0000001700000000 >0000001700000000<00073fff

you have a microcode revision of 17, which is before known issues with bitflips were resolved. This is just a *guess* but I suggest updating your system's BIOS to the latest version. Without MPS Reports' MSINFO32 information I don't know what BIOS you're running, but that should at least fix this bitflip - microcode issue and gives us something to try. In fact, this link (http://www.msicomputer.com/support/bios_result.asp) talks about microcode updates, and says there's an updated BIOS for your board from 8/9/04.

Based on the 2nd dump you gave me, your nVidia driver has a problem. That's odd, though, because it's the latest one (July 15 or so, IIRC). To eliminate this as an issue you might just switch back to that ATI card.

OK, just got a huge batch of dumps from you and the MPS Reports. The problem is that none of them are the same. If I'd just gotten the first dump, I'd say it's an issue with the microcode, update that, we're all done. But you've getting literally every kind of dump imaginable, and not in a repeatable manner.

Looks like hardware. Update to the latest BIOS anyway and see if anything changes, but plan on it being hardware. :(

Sending new MPS with MSINFO32 details, hope this helps with your search.....If you can't help who do you recommend?

If it's hardware, and at this point I'm really leaning towards that being the case, I'd suggest one of those Compaq SLX1012-whatever $350 XP3000+ boxes. :)

(If it's hardware, there's not much to be done.)

Got a few of the Presario S6000Z boxes (essentially similar but with Via KM400 chipset) working here, and they're fantastic. They even include AGP so I can put in high-end AGP cards.

Did anything change when you updated the BIOS? I think I wrote 1.9; it's 1.8 on their site, from 8/9/04.

It was updated the day it was released the dump file you read was previous to the updating of the bios...The 9800 is in I'll see if I can muster up some errors for you....

No need. If the BIOS is now up to date and the errors continue, replace motherboard + CPU (fix that burned CPU/MB) and I suspect everything will work fine.

If you wish to test this, reinstall Windows to another PATA hard drive. Don't install any third party anything. See if the box will crash doing day to day things (playing music in Win Media player, surfing in MSIE, etc.).
