When I 1st turned on my pc this morning,it wouldnt boot into windows and said, "Windows protection Error. Please restart. System halted." I could only go into safe mode. I kept trying to load it normally but it still gave me that error, until I finally did a system restore out of safe mode. I managed to boot into windows normally, but as soon as it loaded up, I noticed that my norton realtime proteciotn was disabled. Now I can't even turn it on even when I want it to. I d/led the latest definitions and scanned both partitions, and nothing came up, but I still can't turn realtime proteciotn on. (I'm running a P3 1.1ghz dell that's outta warranty and on winME.)

Thanks for any help guys.

Nah I didn't. I scanned it w/ this corporate ed. that I got from my school, and both the housecall and symantec online scanners and all 3 found nothing. However, after keeping my pc on this whole tiem after the initial system restore, I just rebooted twice and now everything seems normal; even realtime protection is working. The only thing is im REALLY paranoid about virii/trojans and I don't wanna check email for fear of giving out my pw if there's a keylogger or something. Do you have any reco's? Think I should wait till they come out w/ new virus definitions again? (The ones I have now are the latest, dated 8/16.)
