Title says it all. I set my clock, or sync it with a time server, then BAM; a short time later the clock is off again by some random amount of time (usually several hours + a random number of minutes). Any ideas on what could cause this? I originally thought maybe the BIOS battery, but it's been replaced, and it didn't make a difference.

in your time settings in windows you probably have the wrong time zone set. Also you should set it to automatically update time with microsoft's servers inside the same time settings.

My time zone is set correctly. Even if it was wrong, it should only throw the clock off x number of hours each time, but instead it's some random amount of time. I also have it set to sync with the MS time server. When I sync it manually it gets set to the correct time, but within a matter of minutes the time will be incorrect again.

My wife's pc had a similar problem and the time zone was the problem. Could it be checking the wrong MS time server, assuming they have one for different time zones?

This would only make sense if manually syncing also caused the time to be set incorrectly, right?

Have you verified in the Bios that the time is set correctly each and every time you start the computer? If not there is still some issue with either jumper misplacement, or the battery is not doing its job.

What happens if you boot to the BIOS and leave the computer on the BIOS time screen for several hours?

Also, what happens to the time if you unplug the power supply, wait for an hour, and then plug it back in and boot to the BIOS?

I will try this out tonight and see if the time is getting out of sync in the bios, and that it's not just an OS issue. I double checked my regional, and time zone settings last night and verified they are correct. I also tried setting the time manually, rather than syncing with an MS time server, and indeed it was out of sync again within a matter of minutes. Very strange indeed...
