I have tried everything but this 1 computer i have keeps just restarting at total randon times. First the webpage just stops and the computer restarts.

Ive tried the RAM , powersupply , HDD , CPU , mobo , and a good few other things , i think the only thing left thats been kept constant with all the testing is the [ cable modem ] could this somehow be the problem?

It dosent like reboot or theres no blue error screen just a restart.

The computer runs on - P4 2.0A Gig - Jetway 845E Pro Motherboard Rev 1.0 - It has 256 Mb PC2100 Nanya RAM - Samsung 40.0 Gig HDD - 350 watt P4 Power Supply And all this runs on Windows 2000 Professional.

Any suggestion would be very appreiciated .:frown:

Look for a power management section in the bios. Hit the "del" key to enter the bios. Disable everything except the acpi management. If that doesn't work, check the 12 volt rail reading in the bios hardware monitor. Sometimes, a low reading may cause rebooting. Anything below 11.7 could be a problem. If that doesn't work, I would format the hardrive and do a fresh install of windows.

Most likely you have a bad power supply. Check those voltages or just replace it. Power supplies are like incandescent light bulbs, they produce a lot of heat and burn out (sometime burn up) at intervals. Many are cheap and defective from their birth. Always keep a spare power supply in the house. Think of them as emergency items like batteries, flashlight, gasoline, candles, lanterns, and coffee.

ok before my 12v+ reading was like 11.876v 12v- was 11.742 Now ive changed the power supply from a 300w to a 350 w and the 12v+ rail is 12.403v and the 12v- 12,231v it that high or is that fine for a 350w ?

btw so far so good it hasent restarted in 5 hours 😉

Your machine is finally getting the power that it had been telling you it needed...you must learn to listen to your machine when it decides to speak. Just don't tell people that you hear "voices"...it is OK, we all do.
