My PC is gradually slowing down to a crawl needs rebooting very often I also get many "youhave done an illegal action requester warnings needing to quit and restart programs quite often.. Here is what I have and have done:
I have an IWilll kk266-R with an Athelon 1.333 Ghz 512 mb cas 2 memory 3 hard drives all Maxetor, 120 gig new, 2 ea. 40 gig, ATI AIW 32 mb fast memory ( cannnot recall the name of it right now) a Phillips Acoustic edge sound cart and a fire wire card from texas instruments
I have surface scanned the new 120 gig drive virus scanned it and defragged it. I installed a memory restoring program to keep my memory not wasted. and Ohh yes I switched positions of my 2 memory chips in case they were causing poor conduction.
Assoon as I do anything memory intensive like play music sounds and transfer pictures on IRC or write many e-mails, like 60 to 100 e-mails My computer slowes down to a crawl. I try to restore the memory with the program but it gets a little better and soon freezes up needing a reboot.
Is there anything I can do other than reformat the drive and begin a fresh install and one by one reinstall all my programs? which is a 7 day job if not longer.
