I recently upgraded my graphics card from a gtx 650 to a gtx 970, before i couldn't play Arkham Knight but now i can play at a good 50-40 fps. However at random points my pc will just shutdown immediately, no notice my computer will just turn off, then i just turn it back on play for a bit on Arkham Knight and it will do it again.

Also my driver is up to date.

These are my pc specs because i am unsure if the issue is in my computer parts or the game itself.

AM3 FX4-4100 Bulldozer Quad Core Processor

8192MB(8GB) DDR3 RAM

1000GB SATA III HDD

GTX 970

6x USB (2.0)

Perhaps your 970 is overheating? Does your computer randomly shut off at any other time, or only when playing Arkham Knight?

Um, check Steam AK discussion board and Warner Bros. Way too many issues with this game and while they have put in patches, there's no guarantee the game will work. WB has essentially stated they are done with fixes and will be working on DLC. If you got it on Steam, you may want to ask for a refund.

Crashing sure, but the PC completely shutting down? Can't see a game behind that. Sounds like a power or heat problem to me.

My thoughts exactly, AFAIK a game shouldn't screw up so bad to mess with the OS and system itself. Sounds like the OP may have a bargain bin PSU and is now seeing what happens when you put in a more power hungry card without a decent power supply. Could be something else, but I've seen similar things happen before.

I'm thinking the power supply is marginal at best for the load and craps out after a time.

Have you tried any other graphically demanding games since upgrading?

Whats the model and age of your power supply?
And give in-game temps of your video card and cpu.
