If I had to guess, I'd say your heatsink hates you. Your CPU is obviously working hard, and if it really hates you, it'd be sitting around doing nothing.
Did you peel off the pink strip thingy that adheres the heatsink to the CPU? If you didn't, then you don't have optimal thermal conductivity and your heatsink isn't pulling much heat away from the CPU.
I'd get some more thermal grease and slap it on there.
Asus motherboards tend to report higher than average temperatures because of their sensors and algorithms...
My T-Bird 700Mhz w/ Asus A7V reports a similar temperature (60C) without any overclocking... I have been running in 24/7 for more than a year and there's no problems... I dont think you have anything to worry about...
lol, water cooling... hell I was worried I was gonna end up breaking something when I put the heatsink on in the first place (they're a bitch to put on)
I think I'll pass... until the thing starts shooting flames outta the ps unit, I'll leave it be
I was worried when I first got this setup as well... I see all those ppl on here saying their temp are low 40C but mine never drops below 50C (even on cold bootup)...
But then I notice none of those ppl are using Asus mobos....
The hottest I've seen my XP 1800+ get is 55 degrees (Asus A7V266-E); and that's on a hot day with not very good ventilation. I'm using an Alpha 8045 with a Sunon fan in a CoolerMaster aluminum case.
Paulson, what heatsink/fan combo are you using, and what case?
