My PC has problems.... I'mscared

ok here are my specs as of right now.... (i will be upgradding soon)

Asus A7V8X-Deluxe
Athlon XP 1900+
512 DDR PC3200 Corsair
200gb WD SE 8mb cache
Geforce 4 TI 4200 64mb
Generic Power supply (unsure on watts)

ok i'm having small problems here and there... first off....

Harddrive- Had problems at first but then got it partitioned into two. The problem is that when i took my HD over my friends house the second partition that the OS was not on was converted to "Raw".... I don't understand this at all since we use pretty much the exact same hardware.

Video Card- Well since i got the HD recently i had to start fresh on everything. I downloaded the newest Nvidia drivers for XP and for some reason after playing a game for that is PC stressful it fills up the screen with this ugly color... and its all blank and you then have to restart. Not only that but sometimes during a restart or even boot up.. the Video card will not recieve power.

That is my main problems. But i really want to hear what you guys think.

i'm going to be getting some new parts and i'll list them here also.....

Athlon XP2800+ 512k 333
Antec True 480watt Power supply
Radeon 9700 Pro
Volcano 9 (CPU cooler)
512 DDR PC3200 Corsair

any help would be appreciated.... and hopefully this thread will help others too...

I'm not sure about the ti4200 but doesn't it have a power connector to power it? I could be wrong. Anyway if you get argle bargle on screen, then instead of using the latest nVidia drivers (I presume 41.09 I had the same problems), go to your manufacturer's site and d/l the drivers from there, or you can try the new 43.00 drivers from http://www.guru3d.com.
The Hard-Drive could possibly be the fact that your friend is using a Fat32 partition (probably using Win 9x/ME?), if so it can't read NTFS (If you're running Windows NT/2000/XP). Is it normal after putting it back in your machine?

Sorry, but you're wrong. There is no extra power connector.

P and for some reason after playing a game for that is PC stressful
That being said, no video on boot is an indication that your power supply is insufficient. Get a better one. Your current one may have a high rating for watts but manufacturers can cheat by using high heat loss components and combining the ratings of the +5V and +3.3v rails. In short quality, quality, quality. 500Watts means nothing coming from a lot of cheapo manufacturers. Try a new power supply.

I see that you're planning on buying an Antec True 480watt Power supply. This is top notch. do this first.

i can't really help but i do have a question.
