But it's kinda slow. Can anyone suggest some fairly inexpensive mods that might help improve performance a bit? I don't need to make a reacecar out of it, but it'd be cool if it was a little peppier.

i gotta agree with the stickers idea. those add 10hp each. also look at lots of fiberglass accessories and clear taillights, which also add at least 10hp each

You know what might be a good mod? I could get a big extension cord, and hook it up to the clock tower in Hill Valley... Think that would make it any faster?
I actually thought mithrandir's joke was pretty funny. Definite change from all the lame-ass jokes in every "how do I make my car faster" thread. But, damn, Goldfish's line is sig material.

One of the funnier things I did to a Honda motorcycle I owned that was panned by the magazines as "appliance-like" was to take a large sticker from a refrigerator, I think it was a Frigidaire sticker & cover up the Honda badge with it. Folks would read it, double take & laugh out loud.

Eug has one simple mod: a "Type R" decal. His is quite the hot Prius, if you ask me.
Side note: My sistah tried the Prius and didn't like it much with the weird dashboard and CVT. She tried the Insight and thought 20 G'z was too much for only two seats. She wouldn't even consider a Golf TDI Our family has had 3 VW diesels before (been there, done that) and she has a friend with a nightmare VW. She ended up with a Civic HX. She gets almost as good gas mileage as a Prius would for $6000 less.
