Once you have kids, you will likely change your thoughts and make several calls to them apologizing for stupid stuff you did as a kid.
 
My Parents have appeared very Stupid at times....However, the older I get the more I'm convinced it was I that was Stupid!

Btw, NEVER equal formal education with accomplishment or knowledge. That is YOUR ignorance.

Mday, THAT is undoubtedly the jerkiest thing I've seen come from you. Being disrespectful of the people who are housing, feeding, and clothing you is beyond stupid - it's ungrateful, selfish, and mean-spirited. Blech. I hope YOU have children who appreciate your efforts on their behalf just as much.


Btw, my mother is one of the most intelligent people I know and she never got beyond the eighth grade. She's well-read, creative, interesting, and never ceases to amaze me with her ability to make something out of nothing when finances are tight. Maybe your parents were too busy trying to support you and didn't get a chance to go to school or weren't fortunate enough to have parents who could give them the opportunity, but that doesn't make them "stupid".

Yes, my parents doesn't speak English that well either, and sometimes I am very mad at them as well, but I still consider them EXTREMELY intellegent. Of course, that might also be because that both of them have their masters in the US, my mom is shooting for her Ph.D., and my dad has a Ph.D. valid in China from China' 5th best university.

Iused to think my parents were stupid but then I found out they were really rather smart. They were just stupid compared to me.

My mom's highest education level was JHS. My dad went to a university in Japan and colleges here.

My mom is not stupid. She has a great deal of experience to make up for it as well as knowledge that you would not learn in school. Sort of like common sense.
 
I sense frustration in Mday. Did you have an argument/disagreement in which you tried to use a logical, well reasoned approach? Let us know the whole story.
 
oh, and my calling them stupid does not defer from the fact that they are hard working people. and they are "good" parents. yeah they work too much to have a "relationship" with me, but it's not like i am a murderer.
 
I'm beginning to suspect that the reason for this post is that you are having some feelings and maybe need to lean on somebody a bit like we would all have liked to with our parents. The hard part about need is that we hate to show it in case we get kicked for showing it. The message we get from nobody having time for us is that we aren't worth anybody's time. The actual message is I myself am soo week that I have nothing to give, please please don't try to lean on me so I don't have to feel how helpless I feel. You're OK and your folks are OK, but there's the doubt. Trust is the answer, but it has to be wrestled for, it doesn't come automatic.
 
my parents did finish high school, they came from china so...after midd school it was work work work....but their not suptid :|
 
Hehe.. I'm the stupid one in my family. My mom has Bachelor's and two masters, my dad had a Bachelors, two masters, and DSW (doctor of social work from Catholic University) and was a LTC in the Army. And my dumb ass can't manage a 2.0 in college. Go figure. Of course, both my parents were the first in their families to go to college.
