I need advice here. They're like a $40 pair of Banana Republic chinos that I bought back in April. However, I only wore them about 5-6 times at most and they ripped today... My guess is that my new wallet (bifold rather than tri) was big enough that it put a strain on the material. The rip is vertical and next to the right rear pocket. It appears the material is just cheap.

Should I return them and demand a full refund, or just have this feeling that Banana Republic clothes are crap?

I think you should sue them for emotional damages, request $100,000 for said damages. Oh... and of course $40 more for the pants.

I always buy pants in that price range. Actually I just made a fib. I buy them for much cheaper if possible. If they're $20 they're what I'm liking, and they generally last long enough!

These pants and a couple of cheap clearanced shirts are all that I've ever bought there. They were comfortable and cool to wear cause they're cotton... I'm just convinced that I'm going to have to find another "supplier". So would you take them back and demand a refund?

you bought them in April, it's now 6 months later....sorry bub.

I buy mostly 'cheaper' clothes since I like mine to last and last....designer stuff is designed for a season really....you wear it 3 months and then upgrade.

I know a few people (I am from Palm Beach County) that were things once and trash them or donate them.

I'd take them back.
Usually if you bitch enough, they will give you a refund or a credit.

that's pretty tough, since it was so long ago. However, Banana and GAP are big on customer service type things, so if you walk in there with confidence and explain that you don't expect this quality from BR, and that you are hoping that they can replace the pants, they might help you out. If you are worried about being embarrassed, just call their customer service line and talk to someone. I've seen people get away with some crazy things, so its worth a try. Even better if you still have the recept.

I ended up taking them back this weekend. I don't exactly remember how much I paid for these, but I assume they weren't the full $40....prolly more like $35. Anyhow, I ended up explaining how they ripped and showed them where. I didn't have a receipt so they were going to give me the current selling price...$14. I said, "That's not good enough. I have barely worn these." Since it had been so long since I purchased them, the manager was cool about it and said, "I understand how you wouldn't have the receipt now. How's $29.99?" I agreed and they'll mail me back a refund check: Standard practice for refunds w/o receipts for them. I was happy with that. ;)
