My Panasonic 42" Plasma has a problem!

I have a Panasonic 42" 720P Plasma TV connected to a Dish TV regular antenna ( NOT HD TV). For the last few weeks I have a pattern of racing cursors across the screen. It is not so bad that it ruins the TV picture but it can be distracting.

I may not want to know the answer to this question but could this be a problem with the TV. It was bought after the first of of this year from BEST BUY so it is fairly new. Does the TV need to be 'calibrated' ? I figured that was just a way to spend money like the warranty. Panasonic has a pretty good warranty I understand. That is the reason I bought one.

Any help would be appreciated. Can the problem be cleared up by getting HD service from Dish, which I intend to do anyway.

Do you get the same thing with DVDs or OTA TV?

Calibration is about getting the colors and such correct. Not stuff like this. Something is broken -- either the tuner, the signal, the connection, or the TV itself. Hook up other picture sources so you can eliminate the former stuff.

Is it a green/ purple 'shimmering' thing with pixels?

Hi, Koing: No, it is white and chases all the way across the screen from left to right or sometimes right to left and from top to bottom. It looks like a cursor on your PC when you are jut hitting the space bar, only moving much faster and not as bright. I suspect it has something to do with the scanning. Now these cursors are placed randomly in rasters up and down the screen all at one time but are also randomly placed on the scan line, so they are NOT marching like soldiers across the screen. Stupid analogy but best I can do.

UPDATE: I tried the TV with a CD player and the cursor lines did disappear. Maybe that is good news and the fault lies with DISH or my connection to the satellite.

I see.

Does this happen with a console or dvd player? Laptop feed? If it's fine with the other sources, it looks like the dish isn't getting a clean signal to the plasma.
