The $10,000 question is: Is it a public or private uni?
If it's public, the campus police have the same authority as a local police force - the ticket will end up on your driving record if they decide to be difficult about it. If it's private, then they have no real leverage outside of towing the car, but the boat has sailed on that one.![]()
Public (Univ. of TX)...so...sh*t.
Actually I wouldn't be so sure. I've gotten public university tickets while visiting friends, and I've torn them up without any issues on my record.
I said if they decide to be difficult about it. Odds are they'll be lazy and not report it to the DMV considering the number of parking tickets your average uni hands out in a day.
Still, you're playing the odds over a very small ticket, that you can probably talk your way out of especially since you aren't even a student there.
