Hi all. I finally found a setting that I am happy with, but wanted to make sure that it is the optimal setting (or close to it).

AMD 64 3500+ 130nm
Asus A8V Deluxe Rev.2
OCZ PC4000 DDR500 Gold Rev2

Speed: 2479mhz @ 1.65v --- 52c - 58c
Multiplier: 9.5
Clock Mem: 260mhz
Memory: 1:1 Ratio 3-3-3-8
FSB: 5 x 260= 1300mhz

Sorry if I got some terms wrong, I'm new at this. Is this setting okay, or should I have this setting instead?

Speed: 2497mhz @ 1.7v --- 58c - 66c
Multiplier: 11
Clock Mem: 227mhz
Memory: 1:1 Ratio 2.5-3-3-8
FSB: 5 x 227= 1135mhz

Its speed is faster, but the FSB is slower also the RAM is running slower. Which would be a better setting? Higher speed better or higher FSB better?

Both setting are pretty stable. Ran Prime with large FTT for 6 hours no problems. Will run it longer later.

Thanks!!

The higher FSB is a better setting.

keichan, did you notoce any speed increase with your raptors in RAID?? I am thinking about getting the same setup but some have told me there was no performance benefit.

raptors: not really maybe when i copy files and burn cd they are extremely fast, but that can be due to my upgrade in cpu, and memory. i just got it because it was suppose to be really fast. no complaints here. sorry no help, huh?

yes my fsb is stable 1300mhz. i was searching online forums for the best setting in bios and i came across a forum that is all about asus a8v and 3500+ which is what i had. that post stated that for some reason, he was more stable at a highe fsb than he was on a lower fsb. heres the link:

look at the bottom of the first post, about HYPERTRANSPORT FREQUENCY.

any more suggestions?

heh. i used the 1:1 divider on my a8v, along with my overclock, my ram runs at 130mhz.. but the fact its dual channel probably makes up for loss of bandwidth...the low ram MHZ let me also drop my timings to 2-2-2-10 which is optimal for A64.

with your ram though, you shouldnt have to use a 1:1 divider, try the 4:3 at least...

im not sure how to do that. the memory ratio settings for the a8v is strange. im actually using 2:1 ratio, but with that im only running 1:1. i read somewhere that the ratio in the a8v is screwed. they just say that to run 1:1 ratio, use the last setting which the the 2:1 (i think). so i do not know how to get a 5:4 ratio, its not an option. if you know, please explain.
thanks

Raptors offer you about 10% performance increase, nothing noticeable. If you ask me, it's as unnecessary as an FX chip.

IF having a higher FGSB is better then what is the point of buying an FX chip because they have unlocked multiplers. If you turn up the multiplier the FSB would go down. Right?
