my overclock worry

I have OCed my computer about 20%. (e8500)
Coretemp shows about 50c - which is what it did before OCing.

When I encode video, the temps go way up, and at about 65, I stop the encoding, to be safe. (Isn't 72 about as high as I want to go??)

Anyway, not sure if it did this before OCing, so I wonder if I'm asking for trouble letting temps do that, and what's the fix?

thnx

The "fix" is to get a better CPU cooler. Are you using the stock cooler that came with the CPU? Actually, 65ºC under load is not that hot for a CPU unless you are overclocking it a LOT more.

Yes, stock cooler. I only do video encoding every now and again for 10 mins, so I'd rather not replace any hardware.

I looked up my CPU (e8500) and I thought it said 72 was my limit.
How can I know what is safe?
