Whats the most you would spend on a car in cash? No financing, no trade in, write a check and drive it home.

1. If I have a great deal of cash, I'll use most of them for investment and finance my car.
2. That's what insurance is for, and park your car further in the parking lot.

Insurance is for fraud to some people.

You need to understand there is a limit as to how much you can fork out in cash till they have to report you to the feds.
I dont know the limit off hand but I want to say it like $5-$8K, and thing at that point and over you have to sign a piece of paper, and they have to send it in, and chances are super high you will get a audit.

Wrong. If you buy a car private sale, the seller has no obligation to report your currency transaction.
If you buy a car from a dealer in the state of FL and pay over $10k in cash, they have to report.
However, if you read the original post I said "Write a check and drive home"

OH my bad I took: Not Financing and not trading in, you were buying from a dealership, and not private party, because I didnt know most private parties did in house financing, and took trade ins. My bad for reading your thread and not knowing you meant you were buying from a private individual with what you wrote, never new people did did financing and took trade ins on their own, I need to move where you live and get some private party in house finance deals then
And yes I know private parties dont have to tell on you, I just assumed with what you wrote you were going to a dealership and thought you would want to know they would turn you in, my bad for looking out for you. Next time I wont bother.
And BTW cash-check same damn thing, at a dealership, they will still report you.

No, now thanks to terrorist attacks, yeah ok, it is against the law for you even to have $10k in your possession. If you get pulled over with that in your pocket they can take it away from you, claiming its drug/and or terrorist funds even if you have no record of such, ever. If you pay for your car with any checks being money order, certified, what ever, it must be reported, and in some cases must be reposted if you buy american express checks in amounts over $3K. And because you paid over $19K it gives the feds the right now to search your home and spy on you for fear you may be laundering money or are a terrorist.
