Stupid lazy short-sighted people already ruined it and the pandemic is just making it really obvious.

We spend money we dont have on shit we dont need. We do it at the personal level and we do it at the federal level. Cuz we're selfish and we don't think.

Little tip for you. Every politician will spend any amount of your money necessary to stay in office.

But why does the GOP always spend vastly more during their administrations--vastly, preposterously more--than any comparable democratic administrations? I mean, it's insanely nuts how unbalanced GOP deficits run, but there is still this brainless notion that "all politicians do it equally!"

Where does that even come from, this idea? It profoundly rejects plain, observable, truth.

From Reagan on, it's been preposterous deficit spending from one Repub to the next. Like clockwork--actually. Bush I tried to fix that, when he got the chance, but you guys fucking castrated him for doing the right thing, lol. Fucking nuts! So you taught the GOP the lesson that the only way to get votes is to run up the deficit, without barely a fucking thought.

not only do they spend more they cut taxes so the deficit goes up faster when they are in charge.

Little tip for you. Only Republican politicians continue cutting taxes on the richest people in the solar system regardless of whether it's a smart move or not.

Not that a right-wing authoritarian like yourself gives a shit about the facts that don't fit your own narrative.

That is true.
So why not tax people a reasonable amount and have the politicians spend it on the little guy who actually needs it instead of making life better for billionaires?
The money trickles up anyway, its not like they're never gonna see it again.

I'll tell you why, cuz the fat orange wrinkled racist rapist in charge is one of the Elite and he's trying to make life better for himself directly by funneling money and power straight into his personal life.

It's totally ruining the economy. The full impacts of that ruin are being delayed until after the election through loose monetary policy for political reasons.

That is arguably the plan. And in fact, that's exactly how taxation existed in much of Europe for nearly 2,000 years. Right up to the French Revolution.

The Republicans like to go on and on and on about "tax and spend Democrats," yet they out spend them by being "borrow and spend Republicans."

Keep in mind that it is Relative. All Nations are greatly increasing Debt/Deficit due to the pandemic. This decreases the affect it has on the $USD and sale of Bonds, the US is still a Safe Haven, so people will give up on other Nations first. Of course, if dominoes start to fall a tragic crash could happen within Days, but that's rather unlikely. Then again, it's 2020, so...

Sure all nations weathering the same pandemic. But the US was in the best position for a complete shutdown to stomp out the virus and safely open up.

But is there a breakdown of taxes paid by citizens vs small business and corporate?

If monetary policy is too loose we should see significant inflation but we don’t.

Counterpoint: federal deficits are generally too low and should be increased. We should just use them for more useful things than giving rich people more money.

That would require people to understand the counterintuitive policy of "spend less during a good economy, spend more during a bad one". Seeing as how we can print our own $$

Not for everyone, the ultra-rich have done just fine for the most part during this pandemic. We have a great system, if you happen to be in that small percentage. Don't anyone ever look behind the curtain, please...

A pandemic following the tax "reform" that finally made taxes "fair" for billionaires? This has been the best four years ever!

Also, one might conjecture that if you want to limit the effects of a pandemic, one would want to try to get rid of it faster by listening to experts and science. Instead, we've gone with "gut feelings" and conspiracy nonsense and managed to gain little ground despite our head start compared to Japan, Italy etc. We've managed to fumble and bumble our way into STILL having inadequate testing after all this time, and there have been numerous efforts to hide and shuffle numbers and make reporting as opaque as possible. All that is by design, and for one end: to get Trump reelected. Someone like Ron Desantis must know that playing the Black Knight ("it's only a flesh wound") only works for so long, but it only has to work until November--if Trump is in, he'll protect those that went to bat for him like Desantis. If things go to shit afterward, why would Trump care? The election is the only way to get him out with a complicit Senate and he knows it. We could have a million deaths in the winter and he'd be humming on his way to a golf course and crowing about how he beat low-energy Joe.

But then who would create all the jerbs?
If we don't give all the money to the rich they might go elsewhere and then we would have to figure out how to create jobs on our own.
