When I bought my original system 2 years ago i bought a case with a 250watt powersupply. Well I am going to buy an ECS k7s5a with 256mb of ddr(pc2100) my system will then be...
k7s5a w/256mb pc2100
XP1600+
ATI radeon 8500LE (64mb)
40g ibm hd
dvd drive

I was wondering whether my 250 watt powersupply will be enough to use. I am a student without a lot of cash, powersupply's are really cheap but It could save me $60 CDN to keep my old one.
thx

I'd like to be able to tell you to "give it a shot" but with the K7S5A, you probably won't even be in the same ballpark. You will need a least a good quality 300 watt PS. Look into possibly a Sparkle 300 watt. It has solid quality and ratings but is not the most expensive one around. You will end up with a lot of headaches if you try to use that 250 watt. I'm sure there might be a lone individual or two that could chime in here and say that, "Hey, I got my K7S5A working with my dogsquat 250 watt PS," but I can assure you that not only is their system not pulling the same as yours will, but that they most likely do not have a stable system (if they are telling the truth at all).
Edit:
You might want to look for a Sparkle 300 watt PS. New Egg, when they have them in stock, only charge $27 (USD) plus shipping for them and they should work well for you. You might be able to find one locally.

On the other hand why not get the A7S 333 from Asus - better quality and just maybe your 250W powersupply may work (my generic 300W works fine). I am not an ECS fan and never will be.

In this case I don't even have to say a thing.
