My OLD HP Photosmart 1 MP won't work with Vista

OK, this is an HP Photosmart model 318 and Ralph's problem is that he can't download it in Vista. Simply removing media doesn't help because it has a built in 16 MB. So - can that internal memory be disabled? If not - can it be filled and left full so that a reader/writer can be used with the C/F card that is accepts?
