I know price checking isn't allowed, but this is different I think. I have an antique computer it's an old Apple IIe second generation Apple home computer in mint condition. The Apple IIe is one of the very first personal computer ever made. My parents bought it for me years ago in 1984 or 1985 I think. I think they spent like $2500 on it. What do you think it's worth now? It comes with a monochrom monitor, dual floppy disk drives and the boat shaped box/keyboad.

Next to nothing. There are a ton of them out there for the few people that might see them as a collector's item, and they are more or less useless to actually use.

Actually, you will have to PAY someone to take it away and recycle it. :D

Problem with an obsolescent computer like that is that you cannot even donate it to charity for a tax write-off-- These days even the charities have guidelines on minimum specs for donated computers that they will accept.

The sad truth is that Apple IIe basically has no monetary value. I'm sure it's priceless in sentimental value for some though.

Yeah, I have an old Apple All-In-One (pre G3) that I think I'll keep for my kids. I want to put a tv tuner card in it so they can watch TV and mess around on the computer without me having to worry about them breaking an expensive peice of hardware. But at least my Mac has a GUI. :D

I still have a II+, a IIe and a IIGS back to my parents house in storage somewhere.. I loved that IIGS..
My Grandfather was a High school Teacher and he had a II+ back when I was five. That was my first computer. He passed those down to me when he upgraded, culminating with me getting the IIGS.

As an aside, softdisk rocked!

You should keep it. Who knows, in 10 years computers like that may be worth something. No one in the 80's and 90's thought cars from the 60s and 70s would be worth anything!

Could be worth hundreds to people looking for artifacts. Maybe try selling it on ebay. May be worth even more if it's working ;-)

pfft! The IIGS sucks balls compared to the ALMIGHTY AMIGA!!! I still have two Amiga 500's in my attic. Probably still work, but need a compatible monitor.

Sigh, those were the days, when Amiga, Atari, and Apple fanatics would bash each other. Nobody used a PC unless you were a business nerd. Nowadays it's Intel vs. AMD or nVidia vs. ATI. Bunch of lamers if you ask me. Although interestingly enough Apple is the only one that survived, thereby disproving evolution. Survival of the fittest would have meant we'd all be using Amiga's now. :p

Man, I do remember the REAL platform wars.. Now those were the days!

I almost bought an Amiga 1200 at one point. They certainly were some cool systems. If I had known some more Amiga users locally I may have gotten into it more, but I was rather young, money didn't come easy(Birthdays and Christmas!).

Nothing like the old days...
