My Office 2K quits right after upon launch

Does anyone ever come across this problem?

I tried to open a word document, it opens for 3 seconds, and
then all of a sudden, it just simply quits on me. I feel so
helpless at this point as I have searched all over the web
for a solution, but to no avail. It seemed every MS Office
application behaves the same way, I have tried MS Excel, it
did the same. This is really pisses me off.

I am running win 2k server, and recently I tried to install
MS .Net but failed, however it updates a bunch of stuff for
win2k, also I installed Norton Antivirus for win2k, could
their be any software conflict? I have norton scanned my HD
and found no virus...

I am really clueless now, and I would really appreciate
anyone who point me to the solution to this bizarre problem.

Did you have a beta or prerelease installed?

Are you logging on as a user and not as Admin?/Did you not register? (See this KB article as well.)

Have you installed SR-1 with a pirated serial? (Or Project or Visio? This KB article has details).

Thanks for the lead, actually everything works perfect until last Saturday when I tried to open a word doc. and I figured, it is probably because of some softwares that I have installed...but I just could not figure out which one since I have installed a bunch.

The same happend before when I had win98 and office 2k, BTW, if everything is fresh, then it is fine.
