right now im running 278x9 winchester 3200 on a msi neo2 plat, highest thats semi-stable (can play game but random crash every 30 min. or so) I'm so happy w00t!

Ive tested, highest i can get is 250x10, ram running 5:6 or 278x9, with ram running at 231

the higher fsb is the faster one right?

Not if you have to relax your timings...then keep 250x10...in addition, you get the maximum of 1GHz HTT with the 4x multiplier. With 278 you should lower it to 3x...
But if your system is only "semi-stable", I would slow down or increase voltage...

actually its not stable by a longshot, but im fine with that. the wierd thing though is that i didnt have to loosen timings at all? maybe i could get a better oc if did? in both instances i run myAcorsair value select at 2.5-3-3-6, that the lowest they'll go, or it wont boot.

Some people really miss using win95. It probably takes him back to the "good old days" when he bluescreens constantly.

LOL

I can understand people who do not care if prime has errors after like 4 hours and the system is rock stable otherwise, but crashes 30-minute-wise...

EDIT: btw, wee need more data...cooling, temps, voltage...maybe there is still hope to get it stable...

Unstable oc's that crash frequently can easily lead to data corruption. Won't be fun if you lose your boot drive (unless you don't mind losing all your data and re-installing windows at random intervals). There's no value to running a system that's massively non-stable.

CPU is the brain dude, its the daddy ! if its unstable then everything u do that passes through ur CPU is likely to be corrupt, lol if u keep that overclock and install windows on it imagine the chaos !

If its not even semi-game stable, you either need to back off the mhz, or increase vcore, or something. Thats going to come to a baaaad end.

For the sake of youe data integrity as well hardware well-being GET A STABLE OVERCLOCK.

Personally I would not be happy even if my oc'ed sys crashed every 30 days.

Ok heres components:

3200 winchester
MSI k8n neo2 plat
Evga 6800 ultra
OCZ powerstream 520w
80 Gb seagate sata hd

Heres my overclock results so far:

280x9
3x htt
ram at 180 2:3 ratio
ram at 2.5-3-3-6

System temps and stuff:

vcore is ~1.6 +- .02
CPU temps idle 40c, ~50c running prime 30 min
recorded with cpuz for voltage and everest for temps

Comments:
Whats wierd is when the ram is put to the 2:3 multiplier ( 180) the stability gets better by like 200% no crashes so far, running prime 30 mins
Also the motherboard seems picky, when i LOOSEN the ram timings it wont post. WTF? :disgust:
W00t OC GOTS BETTAR!!!

Nice job! I got caught up at 286x9 because of my memory. Looks like you'll blow me away in a week or two.

Bah, Windows has been fine since 2k. In fact, 2k Pro is probably the most stable Windows version I've used to-date.

Good riddance to win9x/ME though, ye gods.
