The AVS Sunflower is a nice heatsink/fan for the socket 478 chip.

Nice o/c mom!!

From what I read you shouldn't go over 1.65v for the northwood....I have seen quite a few ppl get that high with 1.65v...

How fast does it go at 1.65v??? YOu got the gigabyte board right?

1.8 is the stableist i have ben able to get it, if it craps out on me i have a 3 year warranty anyways

and I have the 8IRXP

i dont think 1.65 is achievable stable at least on this chip

Umm your 3 year warrenty won't do $hit for ya when you overclock your CPU ;)

Guess you don't know about voiding your warrenty by O/clocking ;)

and it only voids the warranty if you claim it was overclocked, most people arent that stupid. and dealing with intel all you need is the cpu and a reciept.

If you smoke your CPU it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that you killed it by overclocking ;)

You're correct! I've never had a question asked of me with an Intel return!:)

So what you mean is that you rma'ed an overclocked CPU an Intel just replaced it no questions asked?

About returning "defective" Intel chips.
The return rate for Intel CPU's is extremely low. Because of this Intel is more interested in good customer relations rather than questioning customers and offers sort of a "no questions asked" return and replacment. I've returned 2 Intel CPU's in the past 4 years, one chip was obliviously burnt up while the other was mis diagnosed as bad (MB was actually bad). In both cases I got a new CPU with later stepping.

Too bad AMD isin't as nice.
They design chips that fry within 5 sec with out a HS attached, design chips that crack with a slightly improper HSF installation, and they won't replace the chips damaged due to the above design defeciencies. I sill use them because they are cheap though.

First, I know I was a dumbass o.k. you dont need to remind me, here is my intel cpu rma story.....

I had a p3 700@933 that I used for a while and it worked great, then I decided to reverse the airflow on the fan on my alpha pal cooler, so I took it apart and flipped the fan over and put it back together and it didnt work right, trouble booting, couldnt load windows, really flaky stuff, so I took the cpu out and looked at it, :( what I saw almost made me cry :( when I put the cooler back together I decided not to use the shroud that comes with the alpha cooler, well it is not just a shroud but is also a spacer for the screw length, when I put it back together the screws went right through the heatsink and put dents into the cpu at each of the four corners :( exposing the traces and apparently cutting some, I called intel to see if I could rma it but I never spoke to a person, I went through an automated system and got the rma info and sent it back to them and got a new one within a few days. :D

i had a 600e i oc'd to 930 mhz died on me cause of my stupidity. cause it was retail i rma'd it and got another that one is still running fine at 864mhz air cooled.

my latest desaster is a 600e that died of chip death. not my fault for the grease had stuck it so bad that a piece of the chip came off with the heatsink. this processor has run 800mhz for a friend. i called intel and now have a rma for this one as well.
