Hey guys, first post here. Thinking of getting a new comp, heres the parts:

Issues I have with it

1. I wouldn't trust a generic powersupply... get something from Seasonic, Antec, OCZ, Fortron, Sparkle, Enermax, etc.

2. Don't get an SLI motherboard unless you're actually going to use it. If you want to get the X850XT, just get a standard NF4 ultra motherboard, not SLI. SLI is if you want to run two 6xxx series videocards at the same time.

the power supply sucks change it to a forton 500 watt bluestorm

dont get the SLI motherboard when your not going to go SLI get the reguler Lanparty ultra -d !

the ram is good but its horriable for overclocking and has compatiabilty problems with the dfi motherboards so it might run well on stock but i doubt you can over clock on it good

also if your going to overclock you need a CPU cooler of some sort

ok, replaced the motherboard with DFI NF4 that is not SLI (although it still has two PCI-express slots?), added a Thermaltake Silent Purepower ATX 480W Power Supply.

Ditto about the SLI MB. If you want a case/PSU combo antec makes some good ones.

At 18A that PSU still might be a bit weak on the 12v rail.

That one's plenty.

Edit: The x800xl offers similar performance to a 6800GT at a lower price. It's stronger in DX games and somewhat weaker in openGL games. Decide based on what's more important to you.

How much is that BTW? I can dream can't I?

You could get 160 GIGs for your HD for not much more than your the 80 GIG you selected.
Getting an IDE HD is not a bad option also if you're on a budget.

Here's some benchmarks for you to look at to see how the latest videocards compare to one another.

For PCI-e, the X800XL is a great deal at under $300.

EDIT: but if your budget will include a $500 videocard, a 6800 ultra or one of the faster ATI cards are good options too.

Another thing, is the power supply I picked going to be able to support everything I will have connected, and a PCI-express card? I just noticed the whole 'ultimate 24 pin' thing at the top of general hardware.

i dont particularly care for the case. its a mid-tower so you'll be a little cramped assembling.

that board requires notice i said requires at least 480 watts and a native 24 pin power cord. also some are having problems with corsair memory with dfi nforce4 boards. i also wouldnt go value select either spend a little more and get better ram. any other questions head on over to dfi-street.com they can help you with any questions concerning dfi boards. alot are using fortron blue storm 500watts has braided cables and native 24 power pin and its about what you were gonna spend on the power supply you listed above.
