My next purchase...Guitar

Hey. I want to get a guitar. Never played an instrument before. What do you recommend I get? Either acoustic or electric. What brand? What on ebay is a good deal for beginners?

get an acoustic. Depends on how much you want to spend, i'd recommend one with at least a solid wood top. Yamaha makes good guitars, but there are many more out there (Martin, Seagull, Breedlove, Blueridge, etc.)

This is like walking up to a computer salesman and saying, "I want a computer," and saying nothing else.

What kind of music do you like? What do you really want to play? Acoustic or electric is fine for beginners. How devoted (or willing to be) are you to truely becoming a good guitarist?

If you really plan on sticking things out, I'd suggest getting a fairly nice guitar and not a cheapy beginner one.

I like all types of music. But alternative music, I would try to conjure up. What are good brands to get for beginners? Any good books that teach u?
