To the OP about the gun: You seem like a real pansy. Knock on the door with the gun in your hands, assume the stance of dominance, and speak your mind.

We'd also be better off if California slid off into the ocean, the same with the entire north-east region including NYC. Hell, I say the fuck with all coastal regions of the USA. Let it all fall into the ocean leaving only the bible belt behind. GOD BLESS AMERICA!

I grew up in Louisiana (Baton Rouge area), and now live close to NYC. The people in this part of the country are rude, and all have that "me first" mentality. How anyone could prefer this cold-climate rat-race zoo of an area to easy living and the best food in the country baffles me.

I dislike the food, the slow talking, slow minded people and the rampant government corruption. Oh, and the food is all fried, which combined with their inactive lifestyles, contributes to everyone here being grossly fat. We always joke that all the hot girls from Louisiana have "the pooch," the little pouch of belly fat from all the fried food. Then they either grow up to be enormously fat or I suppose, if they're a really high achiever for this state, become a huge pop star, pack on the pounds, shave their heads and endanger their children.

New Orleans is fun, but I wouldn't want to live there. I agree that the whole state is shitty, worthless, and a giant leach on the rest of the country. We'd be better off if the so called "gulf states" (LA, MS, AL) just slid off into the Gulf of Mexico.

Gee, thanks!

I didn't understand all the Louisiana outrage over the BP oil spill. Kinda speeds up the process of producing tons of fried seafood, doesn't it?

I am almost positive theres a federal law that has something to do with it.
I know Virginia is especially tough on such things as well.

What age constitutes a child? When my kid was 14, he used power tools to build his own gun cabinet for his own guns. To quote someone in P&N, pussification of America continues.

To the OP: why the hell didn't you just go to your neighbors, knock on the door & say "hey, I think you accidentally left that out here; I wouldn't want to see someone stealing your stuff." People are jerks today when they can't even afford a moment to speak to their neighbors or show a little kindness toward their neighbors.

Did you try to facebook your neighbors to tell them about the gun sitting outside?

To everyone acting like the gun is still there, read the OP to see that it was removed by the owner soon after I made this post.

Call the cops. It'll be interesting to see how (if) they respond.

I wouldn't go straight to calling the cops. I'd knock on the neighbor's door first. I was just waiting because my mom asked me too, since she has had altercations with them in the past as well as the recent fight.

I'm the jerk for not telling my neighbor to use some common sense? I think you are stretching a bit there, pizza. :) Neighbors here aren't friendly. Need I remind you of the fight that happened?

Like I said, I was planning on knocking if they didn't pick it up soon. I kind of assumed he left it there since he was about to take it somewhere, and that ended up being the case.

What a witty insult. Too bad I don't use facebook ;) And I doubt they do either!

You should probably mind your own business and stop perpetuating the nanny-state attitude or knock on the dude's door and let him know he left his shit outside.

First of all, I think everyone can agree that an unattended gun in an open area is a bad idea, and not part of the 'nanny-state attitude'. Secondly, I would have knocked, but my mom asked me to wait a bit, and I was trying to respect her peace with the neighbors.

Obviously. Someone has to be the first to be friendly, and you (and your mom) have demonstrated that it's not going to be you.

Like I said, we've have already tried in the past. My mom is a friendly person; these neighbors are not. Try to get to know the whole story first, instead of jumping to the conclusion that the OP is always wrong!

Calling the cops because there is a scary gun outside is exactly part of the nanny-state attitude.

Depends on the circumstances and area. Seems like he left it outside and was taking it somewhere, and was in Louisiana. Not really a big deal.

Me personally? It's pretty stupid because who knows what kids will wonder up at an apartment complex and be tempted to play with it, but they didn't, so whatever. I wouldn't really go calling the police over it but wouldn't do it myself since it could end stupidly. Kids playing with it, people steal it, whatever.

Yeah, I'll 100% agree it's dumb to leave a gun unattended outside. You're asking for trouble. It just pisses me off when people's first reaction is to call the cops for anything because they're too scared or childish to deal with something themselves.
