My next computer might be...

An Apple. I've always used PC's and I've always been a hardcore gamer. Well, recently, it seems like Apple's keep getting more and more on par with PC's in the gaming department. Couple that with all the other great stuff that Apple's do, why wouldn't I get one in a couple years if they're as good as PC's for gaming?

Discuss.

shlt ... i have an apple and windows machine here at work, and my primary dev machine for 2 years has been the mac.

with that said, i still cannot stand macs. ever since the switch to intel (which forced us to switch to xcode IDE) i have been using windows as my primary dev machine. macs suck and still after 2 years on one, i still stand with my view.

i'm on a mac right now actually.

Unless you plan on running windows XP on your mac, I wouldn't switch just yet. Especially since you want to play games. Im willing to bet you won't be happy. Wait for Vista. Also macs are still rediculously expensive, well designed, but expensive.

yes nothing like buying from a company that overprices their sohpisticated crap and gives it enough girly enhancments so that every metrosexual out there can finally post a blog while listening to *insert favorite emo band here* on their ipod.

I once made the mistake of buying a Mac. I love thed TiBooks when they first came out, and since I was in the market for a laptop - I bought one. G4 400 Mhz with 256 Meg of RAM, 20 GB HD and slot load DVD-writer. The thing was slow (even though it was the quickest TiBook for its time) even when I updraded to 512 Meg RAM, the DVD drive was frickin loud as all hell, I mean I thought the thing was going to fall apart.

Its only redeaming qualities were OSX, which I still like and have it installed on my Opteron gaming machine too (10.4.7 which runs flawlessly unlike previous OSx86 conversions) and the fact that I was able to sell it for most of what I paid. In the end, the only thing worthwhile with macs are their resale value and OS. And frankly, even if its not perfect yet on every machine, OSX is no longer a problem as a PC owner.
