Question My next build-recommendations please

I built a top-of-the-line computer in 2011 and it's about time to upgrade it. Current rig is in signature I7 980X water cooled and overclocked to 4GHz.
I intend to build it in the next 6 to 12 month; whenever i can get my hands on 5090 or similar grade card; currently running 2x Radeon 6990s water cooled.
The system will be water cooled; most likely will build a custom loop in the Antec 1200 case.
The system will use a bunch of SATA hard drives in removable bays for bulk storage (already have).
M.2 for system/boot drive.
Will be running Linux mint (which is also my current OS).
4K resolution would be nice, but not a deal breaker... using 2K 32" screen now and it meets my requirements.
Budget $5K including cost of video card and water cooling.

Would like recommendations for solid quality MOBO, CPU and RAM. It's been a while since i built a PC; and even longer since i built a high end pc...
The most intense thing i do is play moded minecraft; so it's a cpu intense situation, because of mods.
Is triple channel ram still a thing?
I believe in buy once; cry once. Want to built a computer that will last another 10-15 years... like my current one. So need a reliable motherboard.

10 years?! It's hard to predict what you'll need that far down the road. As for reliability, Intel CPUs may not be reliable, and Nvidia's latest power connector may also not be reliable. But there's no similar grade card to a 5090, so I don't know what to tell you.

How many of your 12 threads does it load? If your goal is gaming performance you're likely limited to a 16-core 32-thread 9950X3D. If you have to buy before March that goes down to an 8-core 16-thread 9800X3D. Consumer-grade stuff only does dual-channel RAM; professional stuff does quad at least, but it has slower cores that you probably can't afford anyway.

Thanks for recommendation. That CPU looks good. What MOBO should i use? Definitely want good stability and features; plenty PCIe lanes... Bonus points if a water block is available for mobo chip-set. I have learned to not cheap out on mobo... figured $2K for CPU+MOBO combo.

EDIT:
currently using triple channel ram. Is there still an advantage to triple/quad channel vs dual channel in 2025? The 9950X3D is dual channel if i am not mistaken.

If you're using a 14 year old system why do you need top of the line? My last build replaced my i7 920. It's a Ryzen 7 7700 with 32GB of RAM and a 6800XT. It does all I need and more and cost less than a 5090.

Triple channel RAM is not used today that I know of. Dual channel is all you'll find in consumer products. Only when you step up to workstation or server type stuff does it go above dual channel.
