Ok, I finally got the money to build myself a system (thanks to a combo of work/family), and decided since I'm gonna be using it for a while I might as well go all out. I guess you could say I'm one of those people who does a little of everything on the PC: Gaming, Office Stuff, Web Surfing, Video/Audio Editing, etc.; so I like to have the ability to do whatever I want, when I want. I have put together a machine I believe I can live with for quite a while, but I would appreciate your input, if there are no problems, I will be ordering everything tomorrow!!! Thanks.

1. AMD Athlon 1.4GHZ Processor
2. Epox 8K7A+ Motherboard
3. Crucial 512MB PC2100 DDR
4. Elsa Gladiac 920 Geforce3 Video Card
5. Turtle Beach Santa Cruz Sound Card
6. Toshiba SD-M1502 16X/48X DVD-ROM
7. Plextor Plexwriter 16/10/40 CD-RW
8. IBM 60GXP 40GB Hard Drives (x2)
9. 3Com 905CX NIC
10. MS Intellimouse Explorer
11. MS Natural Keyboard Elite
12. Klipsch Promedia 5.1 Speakers (July 1!!!!)
13. Antec SX1030 Case w/3 Case Fans and 431W PS
14. Millenium Glaciator and Arctic Silver 2
15. Samsung 900NF
16. IBM USB Compact Flash Reader
17. Rounded Cables (2xIDE) & (1X Floppy)

Total: 2643.00

Running a Dual Boot of Windows 98SE and Windows 2000 Professional. Anything I should change, any compatibility problems? I think I did ok with choosing parts that would last me a little while, and would also give me room to upgrade in the future. Any comments would be appreciated! Thanks again.

Looks pretty sweet. :) Why get a 3Com 905CX? You'd be better off getting a Netgear FA311 or a D-Link for less money. Anyways.... looks sweet... you'll have to report back when you have it all built and tell us about the 8K7A+. :)

Trust me on this one...

On your epox8k7a you do NOT want a netgear fa311. I have a fa311 in every comp I own, and I LOVE it. But you canNOT warm(soft) reboot and get video. It is a pain in the butt. Any other nic such as 3com would work great.

I had heard of the problems with the Netgear NICs and that's why I went for 3Com. I've built several systems with them in it and have never had a complaint, good quality NIC.

Only 2,650 for that? Where'd you get it? I'm looking at a similar system for $100 less, but i've got cutbacks that yours doesn't.
Also, how does the MSI K7 Master MoBo compare to that one? From the reviews I've seen, it beast out all the competition
