(I had to host it myself for you to see it)

Ok, thats pretty much what I'm leaning toward right now. BTW this would be my first non-Dell.

I decided I don't want to go for the 9800 pro because I just don't think its worth an extra $150.
The processor is pretty expensive, but its the only one available with the 800 MHz FSB. I read that 2.4, 2.6, and 2.8 GHz processors would come out with the 800 MHz FSB, anyone know when they'll be available?
Geil was the only dual channel DDR400 memory I could find. Or is all DDR400 memory dual channel? (again, I'm pretty newby) Anyone know if thats a decent buy?
I'd be very happy if someone could make sure that this is all compatible. And also, what sort of accessories (cables, fans, etc) would I need?

Wouldn't you rather get the Asus board?
Couldn't you get the ATI retail board for that price?
I prefer Lite-on DVD drives.

Is Geil any good, you might want to look at the XMS series by Corsair.

Its going to be one nice gaming machine when you're done.

I also prefer Lite on...

Go with the GEIL or Kingston Hyper X series, either will work..

Are you overclocking?

IF so don't jump to the 3.0 see if you can get t he 800mhz FSB in a lower CPU speed.. then save yourself about 200 bucs for a bigger harddrive!

I don't know what the Asus or ATI boards are:eek: (read:newb)

Lite-on it is! I didn't know dual channel was just two sticks, lol I'm so newbish. I put in some Kingston Hyper X, known brand and cheaper...sweet. I updated the site if you wanna look.

No I don't plan on overclocking.

Yeah I would prefer to get a slightly lower CPU, maybe 2.6 or 2.8. I don't like to get the very top-of-the-line product in any component because the added performance is never worth the extreme amount of cash, IMO.

Thanks a bunch for the help!:D

Check the clock speeds on that video card, I belive the ATI made ones are faster. You can also pick up an ATI 9800Pro at Bestbuy for $400, so it's only $100 more, not sure if it's worth the $100 extra still...

Hmm, they both say 620 MHz. Is there more to it than that though?

Yeah you're right about the 9800. Hundred bucks....I can't decide whether or not its worth it.

I would never recommend Abit, too many bad experiences for me.

I've heard bath things about PowerColor.

I'm an AMD man but other then that everything looks ok...although i prefer Asus boards - usually trouble free

Personally I would get either the Abit IC7-G or the ASUS motherboard. Even if you dont plan on OCing now, you may want to in the future, and for only 10 or 20 bucks more you could be prepared.

Ok, so I should get the Mobo that Newbiepcuser quoted, and just buy an ATI at Bestbuy?

If your not an overclocker, get the Intel board. They are always hard rock stable and have the least compatibility errors because they spend the most time testing their products, not to say the others are bad, but people like me who don't overclock and spend the extra money for it, it shows a difference, IMO.

Why don't you wait? The price of that processor will drop drastically in a month or two.

I will wait. In fact I'll probably just get the 2.8 or even 2.6 GHz 800FSB when it comes out.

HUGE thanks to everyone who posted. I think I'm starting to get good at this :)
