My new X1950XT takes forever to boot

Is this normal? With the 7600GT it would just boot right up but with the new X1950XT the screen goes on and off before it gets into windows.

I spent extra money to get a 10K Raptor to save every second I could off of the boot time so this really annoys me. Are Nvidia cards just faster to boot?

Anyone know of a newer card that gets into gear faster?

How much time are we talking about here?

4 seconds longer? 4 minutes longer?

And no, there should be no difference in boot times unless the CCC takes a few seconds longer to load.

What did you do to change from a 7600GT to a X1950XT? How did you go about installing new drivers? etc. etc.

Probably either a driver, or driver install routine that didn't take (did you use driver cleaner?) , or maybe a PSU issue. PCIe power pin plugged in?

About ten seconds.

The PSU is high end (Corsair 620) and I don't know what a drive cleaner is.

I installed the driver that came on the cd and it put a ton of stuff on the computer. I'll try a fresh install with drivers downloaded off the net and see if it helps.

It sounds like you've forgotten to uninstall your previous drivers.

Are you sure the boot time is longer and not just the time it takes for the windows welcome screen to come on?

Were you on VGA and now you're on DVI?
