Can't wait!

I just got my T43 in the mail yesterday. It's just so fast its great! Of course I upgraded the ram, swapped the hard drive, and upgraded the processor 🙂.

BTW what is the screen, graphics chip on your config?

yeah I may not be getting it period, the stupid order isnt supposed to ship for a month, I am calling them tommarow and if I cant get it sooner I will cancel.

After having my T40p for a few months now, I am quite sure looking back I would have waited a month for this unit. It is comlpetely worth it, and I'd bet the T43 is too.

When I ordered my X41 (Sep 26), IBM website was showing I would get my laptop on Nov 14. I got it within 2 weeks after I ordered it. Do not trust what is on the website. They always ship it earlier.

They are a high demand item and hence forth you may have to wait to pick one up. Kinda like the Xbox 360 systems when they come out... Did you custom your lappy or did you use one of their prefabed systems???

What's the general concensus on the X300 video unit? Will it handle CSS or DOD:S with this config, and at what resolution?

Cool, thanks for the info. Not too shabby I guess, should be able to do some light gaming

So it shipped and I got this from those punks over at UPS when I entered the tracking number.....

THE SHIPMENT IS BEING HELD BY BROKERAGE FOR REASONS BEYOND UPS' CONTROL

When I ordered my R50e it took it a month to get to my place, 2 weeks on backorder and 1 week to ship and add another week of bing held by the US customs, but after that it was all worth it, I paid $ 849 for it, it handles light gaming like a champ, I have it mainly for programming (JAVA/ VB.net..etc) and it does it pretty smoothly.
I also purchased a discounted Computrace protection for an $ 89 3-years protection.
I didn't buy a 3 year warranty it came with a 1-year warranty, and I figured if a Thinkpad doesn't fail from the first year and you keep treating it gently after that , it will take much more than 3 years to fail 😉 .

I would have, if I were you to get a T42 because I've only heard negative things when comparing the T43 to the T42. T42 has better battery life and actually performs a bit better, it's probably the T43's high lantecy ram thats at issue.

Got my T43 last night, with

1.73GHz processor, 1GB RAM
80GB hard drive (7200rpm)
Bluetooth
802.11b/g
fingerprint scanner
1400x1050 resolution display

Loving it so far!!

Are there any Thinkpad-specific resource pages? (non IBM/Lenovo)
