Hey,

I've just built my new rig :) Q6600, 4GB RAM, 2900PRO, etc but when I go to install Windows Vista from boot is says "Windows is loading files" and everything then it goes to that initiating colourful screen that looks kinda of bluish yellow with a bit of green/teal. Then, it just freezes. I can't see any text, just the mouse cursor (which I can move). I tried with 32-bit and 64-bit. WTF?! I thought at first it was a hard drive problem or something but Windows XP works excellently. Also, I've heard Vista doesn't install with 4GB or something. So, I tried with 2GB. Same problem. Any of you have any ideas about what this means? Thank you very much for your time.

did you run a ram test? try a different video card if that doesnt work then it can only be CPU or MB isssues.

I'd lean more towards it being a ram problem, maybe XP just isnt hitting the "bad spots"

Run a memory test and see what it comes back with

I thought I had the same problem - then i got up and walked away for 15 minutes.

When i came back, it had moved on to the next screen. In short, it seems to just take a looooong time at that stage, for some reason.
