finalising my new system

MSI K8N Diamon Sli mb
Opteron 170
1Gb ram
Thermaltake Soprano with 2x120mm and 1x80mm fan
Thermaltake blue orb
Thermaltake 680w PSU

There are obviously other bits but these are what make a pc tick right? Fingers crossed this will a good sytem base to work from and rekindle my overclocking days of years gone past. The last time I played seriously with overclocking were back in the Pentium 200Mhz days. A long time ago don't you think?

Would like to achieve 2.8Ghz with this system and will eventully grab another 1Gb stick of ram and probably get water cooled. This will most likely happen when I upgrade to Windows Vista.

What GPU are you going to use?
And will it be used for gaming?

I'd get a different mobo, if you want to OC to those levels, get the DFI Lanparty Ultra-D, or SLI-D if you need to use SLI at some point.

The PSU's good, but not needed. I'd personally take the Enermax Liberty 500w or if you can afford it the 620w version. Modular PSU's really do help tidy up your case and improve airflow.

For the CPU cooler get the Thermaltake Big Typhoon over anything else, best air cooler available and near silent too.

Well looks good so far, but what video card do you plan on getting? I would also suggest a different PSU, seeing as you really don't need 680W and there are better brands than Thermaltake out there.
