get a 6800gt instead the 2 6600gt wont be as good as one 6800gt. if you really want sli than get the 6800gt oc to ultra than buy another one do same thing.

ya, i know what u mean about excited i play cs with intergrated grahics so i am praying for the new s939 boards to come out.

Sweet! I made some of the same choices. I chose the Winchester 3500+ originally because you chose it. 🙂 I think the hard drive may be the best deal going right now, too.

agreed. a you wont notice the difference between 2 6600 gt's vs a single 6800 gt. they cost about the same and perform about hte same. you might as well get the single 6800 gt and then sli it when you can afford it.

How so cheap?

Seriously on the videocard though, don't get the 6600's. Waste of money get at least a 6800GT. I'd get one 6800 Ultra and then add another one when you get more money.

It is my opinion that getting two 6600's is just silly.

That is one heck of a deal though!!!

i agree you should get the 6800gt instead of buying 2 6600gt right away. the price is about the same and the performance will be a close one as well. when 1 6800gt isn't enough, you could always buy a second one in the future with sli.

Oh crap here we go again. I just saw this on the Egg for $199.27. Might want this instead. What do u think?

Where are you getting the mobo from? The lowest pre-order I've seen is $242.

I'll hopefuly be getting a similar system together in a few weeks. I've been trying to learn about proper PSUs by following your thread.

One question I have: is the incremental speed difference between the 3200+ and 3500+ worth the extra 60-100 bucks? Granted the real jump in price is at the 3800+ but even so...

As far as the price on the mobo Asus msrp will be $180.00. Initially because of the supply and demand thing prices will be high. If u wait about 1 month after introduction u will be able to snag 1 for msrp. thats why I have a time frame of 1 1/2 months for the build.

As far as the cpu I won't be swapping cpus for a while so I am willing to pay the extra c-note for the 3500+.

Pretty much the same for me, only I'm going with a single 6600GT to tide me over until the 512MB vidcards come out, then I plan to replace it with one of them.

I've always found having a DVD-ROM in addition to my DVD+/-RW convenient, I can get an mp3 disk playing while using the other drive for a game, or something like that. It's cheap enough, especially if you recycle old DVD-ROMs like I plan on doing next system.

Well if I want to copy a family movie I can copy it right from the DVD with 2 drives. Thats just 1 example.
Or I can listen to music while burning a DVD. Etc.
