Trust me on this. Its nothing to do with having a higher income. I wish that was my problem. Its actually much worse.

And unfortunatly its not nearly as straghit forward as that.

I do not know all the details behind it but from what I have read it looks like it could honestly put my life in danger. At least my ability to survive. I am not a senior either, I am 28 years old.

Right now I have been stuck in bed for the last four months. The way my state insurance works it covers the 20% of what Medicare does not and helps out with things that Medicare will not pay for. It also helps pay for someone to come over and help me. Especially in my current situiation. Problem is when the new Medicare goes into play it cancels out my current insurance. So I am left without any physcial help. I will also not be able to pay for doctor visits now because I will not have the 20% covered, I will not be able to follow up on needed surgerys, nor will I be able to afford my prescriptions. (I fall through the crack, I have two handicapped equipped vehicles that puts me over the $600 allowed non resedential capitol).

Without the medical care/supplies that I get now, I honestly cannot survive. So my only choice is to enter a nursing home for the rest of my life. I really hate myself for voting for him now. In essence I signed my own death warrant. As I would rather be dead than go to a Nursing home at my age. I am still in shock that this bill passed.

Is there nothing that can be done other than the nursing home option?

I don't know much about the whole medicare/hmo/medicaid thing so pardon my ignorance.

Now you know how how people in the national Guard feel when he convinced them to vote for him with promises that if elected America would not be the "Worlds's Policeman" and would not get into the business of "Nation Building". He only lies when his lips move! Of course that makes him no different than any other politician.

Actually there is something that can be done. And I am going to do my best to do it.

Write my senators and congressman. At least once a month between now and 2006. Like Joe Peschi (Sp?) said the greatest thing about our constituition is that it can be changed.

So I will keep trying. I guess at the moment I am still in shock that so many cared so little to allow something like this to pass. I always thought republicans were big time into the humane issues, with things like pro life and such. Guess I just really wanted to believe it was not all politics. That some people up there actully did care.

Things only get worse for the havenots and it doesn't matter which major political party is in power. They will steal from you equally, just in different ways.

You have my heartfelt sympathy, dfloyd. Not even seniors look on nursing homes with any hope and it can only be worse for you.

Thanks all for the well wish's. I still have hope and will keep trying. I am hoping one day politicians become enlightened enough to realize that many like me would love to get back out into life and be a productive member of society but things like this are doing nothing but making it impossible.

And friend I wish it was as easy as selling one of my cars.

Selling one of the vehicles only allows me get prescriptions, which I already get fine now. It does not change the fact that I lose any physical help, have to pay 20% now on any medical care, surgeries I get, etc. And puts me into a worse situiaton that will be almost impossible to get out of. So selling the car is already going to happen. But that is only a very small part of the problem with this bill.
