To all of you who say. "But, but the Google Nexus 7 (2013), or some other device, is so much better" etc. et al ad nauseam the one thing the Note 8.0 did for me which the others could not.

The Note 8.0 comes with a programmable IR remote. Now I didn't pay that much heed because although the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 came with one, the one that I purchased did not sport it and I thought the same would be true of the Note 8.0.

Anyway the problem I have been having over the past few years but has really come to a head over the past couple of months is the following.

I have a Bose Wave Radio which I bought in 1999. I lost the remote for it years ago but I was not bothered because I use it as the speakers for my computer.

Of all the buttons to go on it, it had to be the "Vol UP" button (all other buttons work - Sod's Law in action). After discovering that my Note 8.0 had the IR Blaster port on it I wondered if I could use it to control my radio.

I found an app called "IR Universal Remote" and one of the options was for, "Online Remotes", then "Online 2", then "Bose", and "LC-20".

You have no idea how happy I was to discover that it worked and I can now turn up the volume on my Bose Wave Radio again. A replacement remote would have cost me just under £30 ($49); that was way too much to pay for something I will probably just lose again

He didn't use Samsung's database, it's in the app's. And these apps will control anything. Air Conditioners seem popular...

Direct TV receivers in your favorite bar/restaurant/break room/etc is another fun one.

I thought this thread was going to be about you finding a way to transmit your music over onto the bose. I have a bose wave and I plug the phone into the aux port on the back. It's kind of annoying when you have to plug in both a charger and then the headphone jack too. I was thinking of trying this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...9SIA1PU0YW5795

I think that all round it has been a case of Murphy's Law in action.

The only time I have ever read about the IR Blaster feature on the Samsung tablets it was from people whining that it didn't work; so even when I noticed that my version of the Note 8.0 did have it I wasn't expecting anything from it.

YMMV but for me this was not only a welcome addition but also an addition which in my case worked.

I found this that should work for you:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2m-PURE-O...ion_Audio_Cables_Adapters&hash=item2c68a13534

It is on EBAY UK, but you should be able to find something similar on EBAY in the US.
