X2 4400+
4x512MB
Five hard drives
Two dvd writers
XFX 7800GTX SLIed, both with VF700s
Six fans excluding two in PSU

Took me many hours of painful stretching and cut fingers, but I did it. I hit the power button, and thank God it turned on and booted up fine.

Never again will I attempt to squeeze so much into one case.

Now just gotta run some benchmarks.

So I can do on on-the-fly copy. And they are so cheap these days that buying any other kind of drive really wasn't worth it.

What PSU did you go with? This looks like the same exact system I'll be building soon, minus a couple HD's and a different case.

10200 in 3DMark05. Not that it means much, but hey. I've also just been through a few games with absolutely everything I can possibly find in the nVidia settings maxed out to give maximum quality (limited by my resolution of 1280x1024). Not a single hiccup anywhere, with super smooth gameplay even in busy scenes.

In a week or two I'm going to run all the graphics off only one card to see how it performs - if I can't see a difference it's going on eBay. Helluva lot of expenditure just to have the best.

PSU is Antec TPII 550. Word of warning regarding SLI with the VF700 - the second card cannot have the rear bracket or any rear RAM heatsinks applied (doesn't fit). I wasn't intending to stick that extra fan there, but I figured better safe than sorry so I found a bracket I had lying around and an old fan and just set it up to run permanently at 7v. Just in case. nVidia reports first card idling at 55 degrees when I turn the adjustable fans down to 5v, so loads should be about 80 degrees or so. Would probably be a lot higher minus the fan.

And what's with the cookie? Ain't been round here in a long time and suddenly I see this cookie everywhere. Is it some kind of insult?

Looks awesome man.

My current resolution is also limited to 1280x1024 (LCD), which kinda sucks, but it still looks good with all the settings maxed and AA/AF!

Have you tried the 16xAA yet? I bet it'll run smooth and make 1280x1024 look flawless!

Strike that - just figred it out.

Gave it a go in Far Cry - MAJOR performance hit. Was getting about 35fps with 16x AA and 16x AF. Went back to 8x AA (still with 16x AF) and was averaging about 70fps.

And to be honest, didn't notice much difference.

Seems maybe in spite of how powerful this setup is, it's not quite yet powerful enough...

That can't be right...I'm getting 40fps at max settings adn 6x/16x in Far Cry....what do you mean performance hit? SLI 7800GTX should NOT have any sort of performance hit..I'd be shocked if you got less than 80fps at those settings.
