sitting here with my finger on the buy button and thought i would share my thoughts on a new set up i am contemplating on getting

well, that's certainly what i'd recommend for an XP setup

you pretty much hit on all my current favorite hardware for that CPU

only thing that scares me is this shady ram deal...i would never skimp on ram...i'd go with CRUCIAL...but hopefully it'll be allright

you're gonna love those z-560's!

don't want to confuse you...the deal i am getting is from a friend who buys the stuff in bulk 100 - 200 sticks and sells them at a deal...i will see what the brand is and take a look at the reviews...but thanks for the tip

I built a similar system about two months ago. I love the Epox 8HKA+/Athlon XP combo...its rock stable.
I would suggest Windows XP on that system....mine runs like a charm. Hasn't crashed once yet in 2 months.

One suggestion: why not just pay an extra $9 and get an Athlon XP 1700+???
Also you may want to consider getting a 400W power supply. You should be okay with what you have now, but you never know what you'll need for your next system.

I also agree that you shouldn't skimp on RAM. Get a good brand.

There are some good tips on setting up this board on the Epox forum at amdmb.com

One last thing...make sure you change the jumper on the board when you get it...its defaulted to run at 100 mHZ FSB instead of 133. Enjoy!
